Alexander James Reynolds is a long-lived and powerful mutant having proven himself to be among the strongest people on Earth and possibly in the wider cosmos.

History

He was born May 13th sometime in the 1980-1990s to wealthy parents, Anthony Reynolds and Rachel Reynolds. During a car trip with his family, some unknown event distracted Anthony long enough for the car to hit the back of the truck in front of them, resulting in an accident that apparently killed everyone else in the car but spared Alexander due to his mutant genes surfacing for the first time. Leaving him orphaned at age 11.

While recovering in the hospital where he had fallen into a coma, Alexander was adopted by an unknown woman as a publicity stunt to promote her upcoming television show. Unbeknownst to anyone, at the time, a company called IGH experimented on him for 17 days by injecting concentrated amounts of reverse-engineered and highly modified Super Soldier Serum into his unconscious body which accelerated his recovery time and amplified or influenced his genes to develop his unique power set. They injected this altered concoction into his major muscle groups such as his chest, back, arms, shoulders, legs, and calves.

As Reynolds began to wake up from his coma while lying in bed, he overheard his newly adopted mother discussing the death of his parents. This being the first time he had learned of their death and instantly breaks into tears and screams inconsolably as the lights in the Hospital room cease functioning.

While most of his time with this adopted family is unknown, Alexander was fond of his foster sister and when he witnessed his foster mother forcing her to vomit in the toilet to lose weight for a potential tv model role, Alex snapped and threw her across the room causing her to run down the stairs in panic before calling the cops and lying by saying Alex was physically abusing her and sexually abusing her daughter. This vicious lie caused Alexander to be thrown in juvenile detention for 6 months with him celebrating a birthday in there. Eventually, a mutant with mind control powers named Kilgrave visited him in juvie under the pretence that he was a state-appointed lawyer. He talked to Alex for a few moments before enthralling the young mutant, causing Alex to admit for the first time that he has beyond human abilities at Kilgrave’s prompting, and commanded Sentry to break down the wall of the room they were in. Kilgrave enthusiastically clapped, marvelling at Alexander’s untapped power.

Over several months, Kilgrave forced Alexander to do everything he verbally commanded including robbing a bank and murdering at least one person. According to himself, during this time he was always aware of what he was doing but was powerless to stop it as though someone else was living in his body and he had a front-row seat to watch. On his 13th birthday, Kilgrave took Alexander to a five star restaurant to celebrate and they returned to their luxury hotel room sometime after where Kilgrave used his powers to force Alex into having sex with him for the first time. Which Alexander later regards as rape since he could not consent. One year and 6 months after, during the morning when he woke up, Alexander was suddenly free of Kilgrave’s control for unknown reasons, possibly due to the assortment of drugs Kilgrave consumed the night before, and successfully walked out of the apartment in the process ignoring several of Kilgrave’s commands before turning around and blasting Kilgrave with his light out the window presumably killing him at the time.

As he rushed down the stairs, through the lobby, he finally made his way outside into the sunlight where he felt a sudden rush of warmth and happiness as he draws strength from the sun. Inadvertently floating off the ground and being engulfed in a thin aura of golden brilliance, stunning the nearby people who filmed videos of him. It was at this time that Alexander realised he had neglected to put clothes on and was in fact nude. Startled, he dropped back to the ground and was overwhelmed by the crowd that had gathered. Some believed he was an emissary of god whilst others called him a freak. He tried to push past them to run away but suddenly was hurt by the loud blaring of sirens in front of him. He subconsciously used his powers to drain the police cars causing his eyes to glow and the police to raise their firearms at him. Instinctively, he unleashed a beam of light from his hands out of self-preservation thereby throwing the officers backwards and unintentionally causing one of the guns to misfire. Dropped to the ground, he is shocked and confused as to why the bullet did not pierce his skin but merely bounced off his abdomen.

Alexander quickly surrendered and was soon after taken to a secret United States Government facility for interrogation where he was supplied with “Lost and found” clothes. They tried to take his blood for testing but every needle they tried was useless against his skin. Eventually, they passed him off to Charles Xavier and the academy he headmasters as he is presumed mutant. Arriving by car, he is amazed by the sheer size of the school and witnesses the powers the students possess.

He subsequently sits in the Headmasters office during a meeting about his attendance. Afterwards, Alex is shown to his room and is told that he can buy some new clothing and items soon enough but also lays down the rules of no internet, no dangerous use of powers, or leaving the premises without supervision.

The following days showcase that an underground bomb shelter has been converted into a training room for Alex, setting up mannequins for him to use as targets and is big enough for speed testing but is informed any flying should be down outside. He is surprised when he sees the lights have been modified to emit yellow sun radiation. During his flying lesson, he leaps from the top of the school roof with his eyes shut and is ecstatic when he merely floats stationary in the air as if gravity is reflected away from him. With some prompting, Alexander soars through the sky above the clouds and feels the touch of the sun intensity on his skin as he gets higher. Professor X communicates with him using his mental abilities but Alexander becomes overwhelmed by an unexpected burst of super hearing as he hears conversations from all over town. Disorientated he loses control and starts to fall to the ground, creating a large crater in the ground though he emerges unharmed shortly after but is dirty and slightly fazed.

Due to their somewhat similar powers, both absorbing energy from the sun, Alexander bonds most with another teenage mutant named Robert Albertson. They eventually form a romantic relationship with each other. Their relationship is well known throughout the school and has led to numerous awkward talks from the faculty when they engage in sexual activity due to their raw strength often breaking things. However, their relationship is also encouraged by Professor X as it helps Bobby with control.

• Psychic Resistance: Although not originally a part of his mutation, Professor Charles Xavier has placed telepathic blocks of protection inside Alexander’s mind preventing psychics from controlling him, reading his mind, or etc. This does not apply to Professor Charles and telepaths of similar strength, as they can maneuver around them or pure brute force them.
• Chemically Enhanced Mutant Physiology: Alex was born with a latent biological abnormality that distanced himself from baseline humans, referred to as an “X-Gene”, positioned on his 23rd chromosome. The X-Gene originated from the nascent Celestial, Tiamut, incubating within the Earth's geothermal core with his cosmic divinity leaking into the human body. Alexander's X-gene manifested during his pubescent years, around the age of 11, in response to the extreme bodily trauma and emotional stress of the fatal car crash inducing rapid changes on the cellular level including his entire biological structure resulting in the production of an exotic protein that infected the chemical signals on other genes causing mutations, therefore developing his unique empowerments and anatomy. Soon after the initial awakening, a private research corporation affiliated with the US Military, known as Project Weapon X, injected a reverse-engineered and modified version of the early Super-Soldier serum into him. This produced a second genome alteration that bolstered his original mutant nature and supplied Alexander with extraordinarily powerful abilities - even among his mutant brethren. Sentry has been described to possess powers both mighty and abundant that are worthy of a “god”. Due to this, he subconsciously holds back his full might when fighting someone of lesser strength as to not kill them and cause too much collateral damage. As an Omega-Level Mutant, he is one of the most powerful individuals on Earth.
  • Solar Energy Absorption: Majority, if not all, of Sentry’s powers, are subject to the Earth’s sun being derived from his passive capability to soak up the electromagnetic energy spectrum released by the star into his body subsequently storing it in his cells and efficiently metabolising it. This essentially kept his reserves fully charged near-constantly, however, excessive usage at night-time drains him and may become depleted or at least weakened until he can absorb more such radiation at normal levels. Direct exposure to sunlight will also accelerate his recovery from any injuries and allow him to rapidly recharge from any expenditure granting potentially endless energy in the day. Currently, there is no limit that has been established for how much power Alex can safely absorb and it appears as though the greater volume of power in his body directly correlates to how potent his abilities are and can even help unlock dormant ones that he is not aware of. The most impressive use of this ability was to fly out close to the Sun and absorb a vast quantity of plasma from the star which reduced the sun's power for six months until it could regenerate while augmenting his own power at least 50 times previous and was noted to have the possibility of disrupting the sun's orbit, which would obviously throw the whole solar system out of balance. Despite this, the star system remained in its standard orbit but did cause havoc on the ground level of the planet.
    • Electrosynthesis: Secondly, Alex’s cells can furthermore harness the electrical energy in his vicinity and manipulate it in order to manifest his own independent energy source while sunlight is out of reach or otherwise drained from his body. However, he describes it as a second rate power source in comparison to “sun juice” which he describes as the “premium grade”. He has notably used this to regenerate himself at a cellular level despite being voided of solar energy. ​​This also allows him to blackout a considerable area as he draws all the available ambient energy into himself to use as fuel. He can even exert limited control over electricity such as cracking LCD screens or causing lights to flicker/explode in sparks or causing security cameras to malfunction.
    • Flight: He has the ability to manipulate his personal gravitational field to defy the standard planetary gravity in order to levitate and fly through the air, generating such thrust to propel himself at tremendous hyper-sonic speeds. He discovered this by accident having activated it on instinct charged by fear and adrenaline. According to Professor Charles Xavier, this is essentially like a muscle and advances through prolonged usage. He, himself, also states that he doesn’t have to pivot on his feet or push off the ground with brute force. Alex has used this to propel himself through the skies and even beyond the planet's atmosphere. Alexander's flight has clocked at 1,874.482 kph/Mach 1.53, though a top speed has not yet been established, he is much faster than F-16 jets.
    • Superhuman Senses: Alexander's senses are immensely heightened, able to perceive virtually everything around him as well as allowing vast control to grant him selective perception and focus. His eyesight possesses telescopic, infrared, and X-ray visual capabilities, allowing him to see extremely small objects down to the atomic level, and magnify objects for his eyes to see as well as see with great clarity from extreme distance, see clearly in the dark as if it was day, see the heat signatures radiated off of individuals, see through solid objects as if they were naturally transparent, see well into the entire electromagnetic spectrum able to interpret and differentiate between the various forms and types of energy in fields, rays, waves, signals and frequencies including from electronic transmissions, radiation, ultraviolet spectrum, and cosmic essence. Using this ability, he can avoid detection by radar or satellite monitoring methods. Furthermore, he can effectively hear and differentiate every sound on earth while also having an enhanced sense of smell.
    • Nigh-Invulnerability: Due to his mutations, he is incredibly durable being resistant to most means of kinetic harm as his flesh is many times denser compared to that of Humans. He even described being shot at with bullets as just a little pressure like that of a flick before it ricochets off him. However, he can still be harmed by certain factors such as superhumanly strong opponents, sufficient voltage of energy, magic, advanced weapons or technology, et cetera. If harmed by such forces, his energy-charged metabolism allows him to recover near-instantly which also makes him practically immune to weight gain as he burns calories at a fast rate. Despite his level of density, Alex’s skin is nevertheless soft to the touch and is indistinguishable upon tactile contact. Professor Charles Xavier referred to him as “invincible” due to the extremely low list of things able to pierce his skin.
      • Immortality: The older he gets, the slower he ages to the point that at some point he will stop altogether and remain youthful indefinitely. According to Benjamin Garfield, he may be capable of living for hundreds if not thousands of years. In addition, if he is injured, his wounds will heal exceptionally fast.
      • Self-Sustenance: While he appears to require food likely due to his artificially charged metabolism, some of his physical needs are removed. This extends to him being able to survive in harsh environments such as outer space and underwater; able to withstand the conditions unprotected or even the lack of oxygen.
    • Advanced Photokinesis: He has the ability to convert his stored energy into intensely bright light, the same colour as his eyes glow, that can be used for a plethora of purposes. As pure light, manifested as wide-field angle rays emitted from his hands, they are powerful enough to temporarily or permanently blind any who have been exposed to its radiance thanks to being on the order of several tens of thousands of lumens in power per second (the sun produces at most 10,000 lumens of brightness at noon). Alex can also project it as concussive force blasts capable of sending grown-adult humans, even enhanced individuals, flying or blast reinforced doors violently off their hinges. Later, he learned how to generate fierce energy beams from his hands that are hot enough to cut through cinder blocks or if focused on an object, heat it up to the point no one can touch it. This manifests as solar energy surging from his arms into his palms illuminating his veins and subdermal layer before releasing a directed beam. Occasionally, when accessing his photokinetic power to an elevated height, his skin will become devoid of colour turning a pale dark grey. Later, demonstrating more control and refined precision, he could channel light into his hand as a torch for illuminating a dark environment and could kill a human with a localised burst of concussive light as well as cauterise wounds. The use of his light attacks generates a specific sound that is both creepy and powerful having been compared to deep sounding lightsabers from the Star Wars franchise and appears close to MMMMRRRMMRRMMMNN.
      • Optic Blasts: He has the ability to release an intense ocular energy discharge from his eyes, resembling a bright golden heat with thermal power surpassing 2000 degrees celsius appearing as two small, high-intensity beams, roughly the width of human eyes. These blasts of energy are shown to be incredibly powerful, as they were able to easily slice through cars, completely separating it in two. He also comments that this is his power with the most potential for complete battery exhaustion if he excessively uses it in a short period.
      • Bioluminescence: When using his mutant abilities, his eyes glow with a bright golden-yellow ring around his irises while his pupils and sclera remain unaffected. In addition, he can also make any part of his body glow subdermally and can even make his whole body radiate an aura of golden light. Also, while experiencing certain emotions such as anger, pleasure, passionate lust, anxiety or shock, his eyes will uncontrollably glow.
      • Materialisation: Sentry learned he could craft and build various constructs by rearranging the molecules of his own energy thereby creating hard light constructs which appear as a glow before solidifying into solid matter. Alexander’s superhero suit is created in this method appearing in an energy field that moves across his skin starting from his chest that is capable of shredding any other clothing he was formerly wearing thereby replacing it. However, once he de-constructs the costume he is left naked as he either has not figured out how to or is incapable of conjuring regular clothing.
      • Super-Heated Luminescent Blood: Alexander’s blood, if his durability is breached, has been shown when it's exposed to air becoming hot enough to melt certain objects and glows like it's producing its own light. This is most likely a by-product of his photokinetic abilities and a physical representation of his nature as a literal battery of light and heat.
    • Superhuman Strength: He has vastly superior levels of physical strength compared to humans of similar body build and workout routine able to fairly easily overpower other enhanced individuals and emit shockwaves through his strikes, capable of sending opponents hurtling. Alexander is one of the few mutants comparable to Juggernaut, able to fight the demonically empowered mutate on an equal footing, which means he is also comparable to Colossus, En Sabah Nur, and Angel Dust.
    • Superhuman Stamina: Alexander has advanced muscles that produce much fewer fatigue toxins during physical activity compared to humans. As a result, he can exercise at maximum capacity for long periods of time without getting tired at all. He compared it to having the endurance of ten men but this is likely a simplification.
    • Superhuman Speed: He possesses superhuman speed, making him easily able to evade blows or catch bullets and run faster than humanly possible often appearing as a blur in motion. When Charles Xavier walked in on him and Roberto having sex, Sentry speed ran out of the room whilst still naked.
  • Genetic Superiority: Part of Alexander's mutation is that his biological genes not only surpass those of human beings, but also those of other Mutants. Described as dominating, he is referred to as the perfect genetic specimen and his children all inherit physical appearance and powers extremely similar to himself. He is incapable of physical imperfections like warts, moles, scars, blemishes, and is at the perfect height, muscle-mass, dentition is perfect, his voice more compelling, alluring and appealing. Even his bodily scents are extremely pleasant and compelling. In other words, he is the perfect man with the perfect body, flawless skin, beautiful hair, golden-proportioned body and muscles, and is 'well-endowed'.

Possibly planet or solar system level (indirectly) - His solar absorptive abilities are so advanced that he could siphon enough plasma from the star to knock it off orbit causing devastating effects on the Sol system.

Weaknesses

He cannot see through objects and surfaces that are lined with zinc, implying that he only has low energy photon x-ray vision.

He is vulnerable to Magic and can be affected by it like everyone else. Even with his invulnerability, a small amount of antimatter would weaken him and a large amount would kill him as he is nevertheless still made up of matter. He is vulnerable to telepathy and his strength is insufficient to break Vibranium or Adamantium. Brute blunt force, comparable or superior to his own, is enough to draw blood and it is possible for him to be beaten to death in this fashion.

Using his powers to its maximum for an extended period can significantly drain her solar energy to the point where Kara loses all of her powers and is rendered more human-like for at least a day. This renders her as weak as a human - allowing Kara to get injured, sick, and killed like one.

• Due to his powers, he draws many parallels to the Greek God of the sun and light known as Apollo. As so, one of the original names he was considering for his superhero moniker was the Apollo while another was Light-Bringer (after the Christian Lucifer), and Eclipse.
