Amaa was a wise and spiritual elder and former leader of the community of genetically-engineered Eternals who came to Earth. Created by the Celestials in the Activation Chamber of the Exclusion, Amaa was the mother of Ajak and Arex, for which she, along with her sons, and the a group of Eternals were sent to Earth in 5,000 BC to progress the planet's societal development, and protect it from the Deviants. During her long stay, she was aware of her purpose in life to pave the way for Earth's Emergence with the birth of Tiamut the Communicator. However, even after surviving the Snap like the rest of her kin, she was inspired by the heroics of the Avengers during the Battle of Earth, and instead opposed the ideals of her creators, believing humanity was worth saving due to speaking with Tiamut. Although having confided her opposition to Atlo and Council of Confederate Eternals, she was ultimately betrayed by them and lured to a pack of Deviants in Alaska for her to be murdered.

In the aftermath of her death, for which the rest of the Eternals were able to find out the truth and stop the Emergence of Tiamut from happening, Amaa's body was eventually claimed by Arishem, who then ordered the Archive to recreate a new body for her inside the Activation Chamber of the Exclusion. In hopes to find out why Amaa chose to go against her creators, Arishem made sure that her memories would be stored within her once he decides when the time for her to be judged would be ready.
