Doctor Ashley Kafka was a former doctor who worked for S.H.I.E.L.D. and the New U Technologies, and began to work as a psychologist. When Jessica Jones had to do a treatment of her post traumatic stress disorder, Doctor Kafka was assigned by Jeri Hogarth to Jessica's case due to her noted skills as a psychologist, her past work with the organization S.H.I.E.L.D., and her past experience working with other victims, such as Zebediah Killgrave whom she feared. She even has a younger sister named Norma, who currently remains in an asylum seeking treatment for her insanity.
