Byron Becton was a former subversive who was injected with the Super Soldier Serum as a way to take Captain America's place the world's 'symbolic' hero. Known as Nefarius, Becton had been tasked by Secretary Ross to apprehend Captain America and his Secret Avengers during the Avengers Civil War. Despite not being an Avenger himself, he prefers to work alone, but would help the Mighty Avengers and Iron Man.
