The Called are the Utah team of the 50-State Initiative, made up of heroes of the Mormon Church.
Captain Joseph "JJ" Benson, a retired US Navy SEAL & former agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., was chosen to find worthy heroes of his faith & bring the team together. While searching, Captain JJ was aspired to help Elder Eli Griffith, a missionary from Wyoming & fire-powered mutant whose estranged companion was critically injured in a hit-&-run after an argument between the two resulted in contempt & withdrawing. Captain JJ made a deal with Elder Griffith's mission president that he would help him become a better hero than he was back home. Codenamed Inferno, Elder Griffith was the first to join the Called.
After Elder Griffith's registration, a few other members joined: Wesley Mitchell, an expert in quantum physics & inventor of the Planck Watch, a watch-like device that enables the user to manipulate & travel within a second; Joshua Sancho, an athlete from BYU & descendant of an Aztec sect called the Quetzalics; & Aaliyah Brooks, a crime fighter trained under a cult called the Athaqahts.

Zedkiel Moore[]

- Activity: 2017 -
- Status: Alive
- Description: Zedkiel Moore is a vampire who was born in 17th century America. As a little child, Zedkiel watched his mother hang during the Salem Witch Trials. He spent the next few years of his youth raised by ruthless priests, who told him that because he was condemned at birth, he had no chance of gaining salvation. By the time he became an adult, Zedkiel began to see Christians as self-righteous hypocrites, & thus wanted nothing to do with any form of Christianity. Over the next centuries, Zedkiel would spend his days in isolation from society. It wasn't until the 20th century that Zedkiel was greeted by missionaries, who introduced him to the Mormon Church. Zedkiel eventually joined the Church, as he saw them as different from other churches. Later, after inadvertently revealing his past & nature as a vampire to a bishop, he was told that he may have a chance of gaining salvation regardless of what his oppressors told him. This counsel (albeit perhaps misleadingly) motivated Zedkiel to fight for his salvation by hunting down & fighting "evil souls"--including the Elder Gods.
