Carmen Alcantara began working at the National Art Gallery and met Steven Grant. One day, Grant asked her out on a date, and she said yes. Carmen approached Steven the day before their planned date, to confirm that it was still going ahead, but he seemed unable to recall asking her. She reminded him of their plans, and he agreed, asking her if she was asking him out. Carmen, believing that Steven was joking, said that he was funny before going to start a tour of the museum. Eventually, Carmen arrived at the restaurant the next and waited from Steven, who did not show up. She ate steak on her own and became angry with Steven.
Two days later, Steven called her, only to receive an angry response from her. Steven expressed confusion, believing it to be the day of their date. However, Carmen informed him that it was in fact two days after their date and told him to lose her phone number before angrily hanging up.
