Cobweb is a former member of the Sleepwalkers, dream police who apprehend any beings that invade the sleeping minds of humans. At one point, he tricked a fellow Sleepwalker into entering the mind of college student Rick Sheridan. This resulted in the Sleepwalker being unintentionally killed by Sheridan, who decided to take up the mantle of Sleepwalker.
At some point later on, Cobweb was stripped of his position as Sleepwalker & banished from the Mindscape. He ended up in the Nightmare World, where he was degraded into a demon.
