Later on, David and his friend Carver were summoned by Jason Wong, who was asking for some assistance in fortifying Kamar-Taj, which was about to be attacked by the Scarlet Witch. After apologizing for his recent mistakes, he assisted in aiding Kamar-Taj's defenses from the Scarlet Witch, who had successfully broke through the barrier and attacked many sorcerers. During the attack, he saved Carver's life, along with a handful of students, and successfully transported them to safety back to the Mystic Castle. He then returned to Kamar-Taj to try and rescue Wong, only to be almost killed by the Scarlet Witch if Wong failed to cooperate with her.
With the threat of the Scarlet Witch coming to an end, David was granted a second chance in returning back to the Masters of the Mystic Arts at the request of the Supreme Council of the Mystic Arts, in which he and his friend Carver arranged for Mystic Castle to be used as a second headquarters for trainees while he was given permission to perform tricks, but would be ready to learn from his former rival Jason Wong on how to perform magic the right way and even pass this along to new students that were also being brought to the Mystic Castle. As master of the Mystic Castle, thus making it a sanctum, David swore that he would be summoned to aid Wong in any situations.
