Frank Anders was a volunteer firefighter from Wrigley, Pennsylvania, that belonged to a team of volunteers who aided in the recovery after the battle of New York.

Sometime before the battle of New York, Frank Anders had a relationship with Veronica Stryker and the two were engaged to be married.

Killed by a Virus[]

Whalen was among a group of volunteer first responders who aided in the recovery after the Battle of New York. He and fellow firefighters found a Chitauri Helmet that they kept as souvenir. Unbeknownst to them, the helmet carried a virus which causes those who contract the virus to die in a very strange way. Months after, Frank Anders, Samuel Douglas, and Anthony Diaz decided to polish the helmet.

After contracting the virus, Frank Anders started to slowly succumb to it while in his barn. He had locked the barn doors and had a shotgun with him, which Phil Coulson of S.H.I.E.L.D. initially supposed was for protection against someone trying to attack Anders. It is unclear whether Anders also thought he would be attacked or if he was going to shoot himself to stop the "humming" symptom of the virus. After the virus killed Anders, it caused his body to float in the air.

Leo Fitz used one of the D.W.A.R.F.s to cause a static electricity spark, which caused Frank Anders' body to fall straight into a coffin set up to catch him. Once Frank Anders' body was brought on board the Bus to be investigated, Jemma Simmons sought determine what caused it, and once she got the answer while examining Anders' brain, she revealed to the rest of the team that he was not killed by a person, but a virus.

  • In the comics, Frank Anders was killed by his fiancee Veronica Stryker due to his refusal to abandon the Power Cult, whose leader was Veronica's father himself, Reverend Stryker.
