Logan (born James Howlett), also referred to as Wolverine, was a Canadian paratrooper during World War II. Captured by HYDRA, he was subjected to their Double Helix experiments, under Cassandra Romulus. Mutated into a lupine warrior with retractable adamantium appendages and erased memories, he became HYDRA's deadliest weapon.
Eventually breaking free from their control, Logan wandered the globe, trying to stay hidden. However, while on the run, Logan's healing factor became unpredictable. Tracked down by Romulus, he was deceived into believing that these fluctuations were the result of genetic defects caused by HYDRA's experiments. Romulus convinced him that the only cure lay in the Hulk's gamma-enhanced blood, setting Logan on a collision course with one of the most powerful entities on the planet.
Tracking Bruce Banner to a secluded island, Logan fought a brutal battle against him, barely emerging victorious. Romulus and her HYDRA team then arrived, capturing the Hulk and revealing her plan to create the ultimate super soldier, H-Alpha, using their combined DNA. Realizing her deception, Logan freed the Hulk, and together they battled H-Alpha. During the fight, Logan's healing factor failed, and he was seemingly killed, only to revive minutes later. It was revealed that Logan's healing factor had been rebuilding his body at a genetic level and he emerged as an entirely new species: Homo superior. With his new enhanced abilities, Logan and the Hulk defeated H-Alpha and the two parted ways on amicable terms.
Some time later, Logan and Banner learned that their mutual friend, Walter Langkowski, had gone missing under mysterious circumstances. Teaming up to find him, they followed a trail that lead them to the Canadian wilderness, where they encountered monstrous beasts known as Wendigos. As they fought their way through these creatures, they uncovered a HYDRA plot to release the Great Beast Tanaraq. Together, Logan, Hulk and Langkowski managed to thwart HYDRA's plans and send Tanaraq back to his dimension.
Not long after Wolverine's life took a darker turn when he encountered his father, the ruthless Sabretooth. Victor began a violent campaign against Logan and his children, Laura and Jimmy, pushing them to embrace their feral nature and ascend to the top of the predator hierarchy. Despite Sabretooth's machinations, the three Wolverines stood united against him, ultimately defeating him, and emerging from the experience as a true family.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Childhood[]
James Howlett suffers from amnesia, as a result, what little was known about his early life is both suspect and unverifiable. It is believed that he was born sometime in the early 20th century and was violently abused by his father, Victor Creed. When World War II broke out, Howlett was told to go out and kill by his father and so enlisted in the Canadian Army.
World War II[]
Howlett's earliest known activities were as a paratrooper in the Canadian army during World War II. His remarkable knack for surviving even the most harrowing injuries earned him the nickname, "Lucky Jim," from his compatriots. He was present at the invasion of Sicily, where he attempted to loot a house along with two other soldiers, when they were interrupted by American MPs. He was grazed by a bullet and all three were taken away, despite Howlett's protests that he was Canadian.
Prisoner of HYDRA[]
Subsequently, Howlett fell into the clutches of HYDRA, a nefarious organization that had begun to infiltrate S.H.I.E.L.D. Recognizing his extraordinary survival ability, HYDRA selected him as a prime candidate for their Double Helix experiments, a super-soldier program spearheaded by the brilliant and ruthless scientist, Cassandra Romulus. At Hydra Genetics Laboratory #5, located in the Bronx, New York City, Howlett was mutated into a lupine warrior, mentally imbued with centuries of military strategies and fighting techniques. To enhance his lethality, they implanted six razor sharp, retractable foot-long appendages into his flesh, three in each arm, and fortified his skeleton with adamantium, an indestructible metal alloy HYDRA had developed after years of research in an attempt to replicate vibranium.
To complete their creation, HYDRA erased Howlett's memories and replaced them with a fabricated identity: "Wolverine." In this near-mindless state, Howlett was deployed as HYDRA's personal weapon, executing missions with ruthless efficiency for many years. However, he proved to be too difficult for HYDRA to control and, after some time, broke free of the programming, fell into a berserker fury and escaped the facility, leaving a trail of devastation and nearly every HYDRA operative in the facility dead.
On The Run[]
In the years that followed, Howlett, now going by the name Logan, wandered the globe. While on the run, he noticed that his healing factor had become unpredictable, sometimes failing to heal wounds as quickly or thoroughly as before. After he made headlines unsheathing his claws in a bar brawl, Logan was subsequently tracked down by a seemingly reformed Romulus. She deceived him into believing that these fluctuations were the result of a defective chain of nucleoproteins in his DNA that would slowly kill him and the only cure lay in the gamma-irradiated blood of the Hulk. Unbeknownst to Logan, Romulus’ true goal was to combine Hulk's DNA with Logan's to create the ultimate super soldier. Believing his life was at stake, Logan embarked on a perilous mission to find Bruce Banner and obtain the Hulk's blood.

Powers[]
- Artificially Enhanced/Mutant Physiology: Logan was one of the subjects of HYDRA's super-soldier program: Double Helix. As a result of these experiments, he was mutated into a lupine warrior with enhanced strength, superhuman senses and a regenerative healing factor. He was also implanted with six razor-sharp adamantium appendages, three in each arm, capable of cutting through almost any material, and his skeleton was reinforced with adamantium, making his bones virtually indestructible. After his death, and subsequent resurrection as a mutant, Logan abilities were further enhanced.
- Regenerative Healing Factor: Logan's primary and most notable power is his accelerated healing ability, allowing him to recover from virtually any injury, including bullet wounds, lacerations, and even severe trauma, within minutes to hours.
- Longevity: This healing factor also grants him an extended lifespan, making him appear much younger than his actual age and significantly slowing his aging process.
- Enhanced Senses: Logan possesses heightened senses of smell, sight, hearing, and taste, comparable to those of a wild animal. These enhanced senses make him an exceptional tracker and hunter. His sense of smell is particularly acute, enabling him to track individuals over great distances and detect lies or deceit through changes in scent.
