Joshua Anders was a young teenager who lived in Harlem. Like many residents in the district, Anders disliked crime and was one of Cottonmouth's rivals. He use to work at a small grocery store and had been trying to sign himself up to join the NYPD to help and protect people from crime. After witnessing his manager getting shot in the arm by a thug, Anders carried a loaded Colt M1911A1 and would use it to defend himself from criminals. He would later encounter Luke Cage, whom he believed he was a criminal that sought to come after an innocent bystander. However, he ran away in fear when he saw that Luke couldn't be killed.

- Colt M1911A1: Anders carried this gun when he noticed Luke Cage standing in front of Crispus Attucks Complex, and went to threaten him with it. Cage, who was angry due to Pop's death, confronted him, prompting Anders to even shoot him. However, Anders was shocked and did not react, so Cage took Anders' gun and shoot himself in the stomach, with the bullet ricocheting, and making Anders run scared.
