Liam Hart, also know as Barbatos, is a former member of The Avengers and the current king of Hell. Ever since he inherited the role from Mephisto, he has been trying to balance out his royal duties of keeping the pits of Hell in order and what remains of his normal life. Recently, Liam has taken a young Nephilim under his wing in order to teach them to master their powers, all the while dealing with a looming threat in the heavens above.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Liam lived a relatively normal childhood despite his sister's occult activities and their parents' untimely death, he enrolled in the Midtown School of Science and Technology where he met Melissa Gold and Josh Miller, who soon became his closest friends after he personally picked a fight with several students who were harassing them to 'protect their honor'.
Trapped in the Lost Library of Cagliostro[]
During an altercation between Stephen Strange and Wong, a stray blast of eldritch magic hit Liam which sent him to the Lost Library of Cagliostro. He arrived centuries back in time to the middle of a jungle, where he is greeted by the decrypt ruins of the legendary library. Liam navigated through the vast collection of books until he found one regarding time manipulation and dimensional travel, learning that he needed to absorb the energies of other mystical creatures to do so.
After learning how to master eldritch magic for 5 years, he froze himself in time and smarted small by summoning an enchanted insect, which Liam promptly absorbed. As he continued absorbing stronger beings. While Liam caught his breath, he could briefly feel the multiversal barrier and briefly inspected it. As the years passed, Liam absorbed countless various powerful mystical beings. With that, Liam unfroze himself from time and returned to his own realm, having discovered that barely anytime had passed since his disappearance.
Personality[]
Liam is a rather eccentric individual, being very aggressive and assertive, never letting his convictions waver in front of others unless in the face of overwhelming evidence. However, he is very approachable and rather pleasant to talk to once people get past his intricacies. His strong moral compass along with his aggressive attitude often gets him into many fights, willing to stand up for others, despite the odds. When Liam became the new king of Hell, he developed a slightly more ruthless nature, personally dragging damned souls to the pits and threatening to kill those who threatened the balance between Hell and Earth. However, Liam still had his strong morals, willing to review the appeals that the damned souls brought to him on a case to case basis and gave the demons who wanted the throne a fair chance at it via trial by combat.
Alongside his responsibilities as keeper of the underworld, Liam also has to face the challenge of looking after and teaching the half-angel; Cleo Thorton to master their powers and ensure that they are kept hidden from both celestial and demon kind alike. Initially finding Cleo extremely irritating and a distraction to his duties, Liam began to grow fond of the young Nephilim, the two forming a close bond as the years passed.

- Superhuman Reflexes: Liam is able to sense threats around him and able to predict them before they occur.
- Eldritch Magic: Liam is able to shape and manipulate Eldritch Magic, forming tangible constructs of energy, such as weapons or shields, as well as cast spells by writing specific formations with the fiery energy. Furthermore, the magic passively increases his strength, durability, agility and speed to godly levels. It also gave Liam a plethora of other abilities, such as; flight, teleportation, telekinesis and chronokinesis.
- Dark Dimension Magic: Initially, Liam was only able to harness a small portion of Dark Dimension Magic after spending two decades in the Lost Library of Cagliostro, which was enough for him to absorb the powers and life forces of other mystical beings. His control over this magic eventually grew as he utilised it more.
- Cosmic Awareness: Due to his absorption of various mystic beings, Liam eventually became powerful enough to sense the barrier between multiverses.
- Dimensional Travel: Liam is able to traverse the interdimensional barriers between Earth and Hell. He is able to bring demons or humans from Hell to Earth or vice versa.
- Transformation: After becoming the king of Hell, Liam is capable of transforming into his demon form, which takes a twisted visage of the Barbatos Armor after it was forcefully absorbed into him. Furthermore, when tapping into enough Dark Dimension magic, Liam can transform into a centaur-like Hell Lord form.
- Regenerative Healing Factor: In the rare case that Liam gets injured, his half demon physiology along with the powerful magic flowing through his body gives him an almost instant healing factor, able to heal most fatal wounds in seconds.
- Immortality: Liam's half demon physiology and the countless life forces absorbed from powerful mystical and cosmic beings have rendered him virtually immortal. Furthermore, Liam cannot be harmed through any conventional means, with only Hellstone weapons and Silver City artefacts being able to break his skin.
Hell Lord Powers[]
These assortment of powers are only available to Liam in his Hell Lord form and cannot be accessed in his human and demon forms.
- Resurrection: Liam has the ability to resurrect the dead by placing a soul in a recently deceased body, the body healing from all injuries when the soul enters it.
- Celestial Communication: Liam can communicate with other celestial beings by mentally calling out for them.
- Power Bestowal: He is able to empower any lesser being with a fraction of his demonic energies. The powers that come with these energies normally include, superhuman strength, durability, speed and pyrokinesis.
- Artefact Creation: With the massive amounts of Dark Dimension energy mixed with the hottest fires of Hell, Liam is capable of creating extremely powerful artefacts. One such artefact is the Hellstone Charm that he gave to Cleo Thorton.
- Faustian Deal: Liam is able to grant mortals a single wish, able to alter reality to fit the desire of the wish maker. However, unlike his predecessor; Mephisto, who took their soul in exchange for the wish, Liam only provides them with an unspecified favour to be paid back later.

- Expert Tactician: Despite his tactics coming off as rather brazen, his split-second decision-making has saved people's lives or overpowered his adversaries.
- Master Engineer: Liam is capable of repairing and upgrading the many complex systems and mechanics of his suit of armor.
- Expert Combatant: Following his brief time at Kamar Taj, Liam became proficient in martial arts, both armed and hand-to-hand combat. His combat skills were further expanded during his time fighting a wide variety of powerful demons that challenged his right to the throne.
- Multilingualism: Gained when Liam became king of Hell, he is able to speak a wide range of languages fluently, including demon-tongue.
Equipment[]
- Barbatos Armor: Liam stole a prototype suit of armor developed by Stark Industries and enchanted it with eldritch magic that gave it otherworldly abilities. The armor was later absorbed into his body when he became king of Hell.
- Morningstar Mace: Forged out of nigh-indestructible Hellstone Ore in the unholy forges, it is able to focus and hone Liam's powers, acting as a conduit, being the strongest weapon and artefact originating from Hell, able to equally match the power of the Infinity Stones.
- Hellstone Long Sword: A one-of-a-kind long sword forged out of Hellstone Ore. Its blade is imbued with powerful unholy enchantments, giving it a wide range of special properties. One of these properties is its ability to produce shock waves when swung, giving an option to attack far away targets. This attack is strong enough to split a powerful wave of eldritch magic. It also has the capacity to block powerful magical strikes as well as cut straight through protection spells.
- Barbatos Twin Blades: A pair of curved Hellstone handheld weapons. These blades can be combined together to create the limbs of a bow, with crackling unholy lightning forming the string between the two blades. Besides their ability to form a bow, the individual blades are able to emit large amounts of heat or lower the surrounding temperature to an absolute zero state.
