Margaret Simmons was a young woman who was the ex-wife of a man she divorced. In 1976, she was attacked by a gang of bikers when she was visiting Boston. Her life was saved by Count Vlad Dracula, who turned her into a vampire. Bent on revenge, Margaret found the gang and used her vampiric abilties to beat them up rather than killing them. For years, Margaret had been loyal to Dracula for saving her and earned herself a place in his council when she became the new leader of the Anchorite Sect. She was also an honorable agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., but had recently left the agency when HYDRA had been hiding in the shadows and would go on to work for the MI13 and become a member of the Excalibur.
