In the aftermath of the battle of New York, Maria returned to the Triskelion, only to be summoned by Director Fury. Once inside, Maria asked what this was about. Director Fury told her not to lie, for he already knows that the World Security Council asked her to spy on him and provide every report on his actions. She told Fury that the Council planned on having demoted and would appoint her as the new Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Fury told her that her promotion to director will never happen and expressed his displeasure towards her of agreeing to the Council's decision to detonate a nuclear explosive in New York City. Maria explains that she voiced her displeasure of the Council's plan of doing that, but regretfully had to go along with with. Fury understood that, but told her that she is fired and removed from service.

In 2012, Director Maria Hill received a message from Nick Fury about HYDRA hiding within S.H.I.E.L.D.. After Natasha Romanoff released files to the public in the aftermath of the battle of the Triskelion in order to expose HYDRA to the world, Maria Hill led a detachment of T.I.M.E. operatives to arrest Director Gerald Richter of the F.B.I., who was associated with HYDRA.[1]

In 2016, following a devastating terrorist attack in Lagos, Nigeria resulted in the deaths of twenty-six people, in which eleven of the victims being relief workers from Wakanda, Maria, who continued her role as director of T.I.M.E. and represented the agency within the C.S.A., was among the pro-registration people that deemed it a public relations disaster and agreed for the Sokovia Accords to be passed immediately.

With the Sokovia Accords now put into place, Director Hill was selected by Secretary Thaddeus Elliot Ross to serve as one of the leading enforcers. She accompanied Secretary Ross and Tony Stark to visit the Avengers at their facility to present them with the Sokovia Accords. Both Director Hill and Secretary Ross explained that there were no disagreements among the world's governments about whether the Avengers should all be considered heroes or vigilantes as the unlimited power with which they have operated could no longer be tolerated since it was almost impossible to control.

Weeks after the Blip, Maria Hill met up with Bruce Banner and offered him a place in T.I.M.E. due to his skills that involved with Time Travel. Doctor Banner accepted the offer, but gave her a warning that time travel came sometimes be very dangerous. Even though she had no interest about wanting to do time travel, she just wanted a Hulk to be part of this agency. With Banner now part of T.I.M.E., Maria also agreed to allow Banner to work remotely on his own private island that was given to him as a gift by his fellow teammate and friend Tony Stark.[2]

Personality[]

When the United Nations allowed the Sokovia Accords to be drafted, Maria carried out with relish and absolute ruthlessness when going on the hunt for powered individuals that refused to register. Even though, she doesn't like to kill any person who has powers since she knew that some were innocent and didn't want to cause any trouble. In hopes to prevent chaos or a conflict between powered and non-powered individuals, she has given specific orders to her fellow operatives in T.I.M.E. to use only tranquilizers.

  • Asgardian Physiology: After making contact with a duplicate of Mjølnir that was forged by Eitri and ended up on Earth when Thanos attacked the furnaces of Nidavellir, Maria was transformed into an Asgardian when the weapon deemed her worthy. Like every Asgardian, Maria had been bestowed with power equal to Thor Odinson
    • Superhuman Strength: After becoming an Asgardian, Maria possessed an incredible high-level of superhuman strength, which enables her to easily overpower her enemies. She can lift or move immensely heavy objects effortlessly. Maria's strength extends to her ability to leap great distances. With her strength, Maria is able to take on multiple enemies at the same time, using this duplicate of Mjølnir to send enemies flying with each strike. Using her weapon, Maria's strength is compounded, as he is able to swing his mighty hammer with great speed and force. Her strength is so great, that she can throw her weapon with enough force to break through nearly any barrier.
