Melissa Gold, also known as Songbird, is a student at Midtown School of Science and Technology. Despite being a very offensive and abrasive person due to being subject to traumatic illegal experiments in her childhood, she manages to befriend Josh Miller and Liam Hart, eventually becoming romantically interested in the latter.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Melissa suffered a traumatic childhood at the behest of her abusive parents who worked in the underworld superhuman cage fighting business. She was forced to participate in these fights by her parents in a desperate bid for money. To this end, Melissa underwent a torturous experiment that gave her superhuman strength, speed, durability and the ability to make sonic projections. The abuse and trauma became too much for Melissa to bear, causing her to run away from home, taking up residence in an apartment block she bought using the money she earned from the fights and with the help of a fake ID, enrolled at the Midtown School of Science and Technology.
Awkward Friendship[]
Melissa first met Josh and Liam when the two of them stepped up for her when she was being harassed by her classmates. The situation ended up escalating into a fight, with Liam and Melissa being sent to detention. After a brief argument about her evident lack of friends and less than appealing attitude, Melissa was convinced by Liam to try and be friends with him and Josh, much to her dismay. However, Melissa began to warm up to them as she hung out with them more, the three soon forming a tight bond. She even began to form a small crush on Liam.
Personality[]
Initially, Melissa was known for her crude attitude and icy attitude. She spoke her mind whenever she pleased, not caring if it got her into trouble and was always the first to express criticism. However, she starts to open up when she met Liam and Josh and the three became fast friends, forming a close bond and eventually forming a romantic interest for Liam. Melissa has become more friendly and welcoming to those around her and has developed a questionable sense of humour.

- Superhuman Strength: After undergoing the experiments, Melissa's musculature, skeletal structure, and connective tissues were drastically strengthened and augmented, giving her superhuman strength.
- Superhuman Durability: Melissa's body is tougher and more resistant to most forms of physical injury than those of a normal human. Her body is able to withstand great impact and blunt force trauma.
- Superhuman Speed: The superior energy output and force of her muscles enables Melissa to run and move at speeds that are beyond the natural physical limits.
- Flight: By creating wings out of pure sound energy, Melissa can propel herself through the air at great speeds.
- Acoustikinesis: Melissa was given a set of vocal cord implants that allows her to produce a number of effects. She can generate powerful sonic blasts, sonic force-fields, and can even create solid objects created from sound including battering rams, pincers and platforms.
Former Powers[]
- Killing Instinct: While under the influence of infected Chitauri blood, Melissa gained the uncontrollable instinct to kill and drain the blood of any living creature near her, especially humans.
- Blood Sense: Another trait of being infected, She can sense the exact position of an animal or person in any environment if they happen to have an open wound or have blood on them.

- Skilled Combatant: Melissa has extensive training in hand to hand combat, and thanks to her superhuman physique makes her a much more effective hand to hand combatant.
