Meeting Ego[]
Ego returned three times to visit Meredith Quill. Fearing that he was becoming too attached to her and becoming unfocused in his mission, Ego decided to kill her, although he was not without remorse for it. He used his power to cause an inoperable malignancy to develop in her brain.
Master of the Mystic Arts[]
Seeking a Cure[]
Upon learning that she had brain cancer, Meredith spent the last couple of weeks in trying to find a way to cure herself from this cancer, but had no luck at all. As she had been busy researching, her father came to see her and asked if there's anything he can do. Meredith told him that she's not giving up, for she is willing to fight this cancer since she didn't want to leave her son Peter all alone without a mother who loves him.
Meeting the Ancient One[]
After tucking her son to bed, Meredith walks outside and stares at the stars. She tries to call out to Egros to come back and help her, but grew frustrated since there was no answer from him at all. Realizing that there was no hope for her, Meredith decided to give up and turns to walk back inside. That was when she was greeted by the Ancient One, who had heard her call and offered to help her.

Master Sorceress: As the Sorcerer Supreme, and the leader and the most powerful member of the Masters of the Mystic Arts, Meredith Quill learned for years to become a tremendously powerful and skilled master sorceress, possessing immense magical power and absolute mastery and knowledge of the mystic arts, which she used to defend her native reality from threats from other dimensions of the Multiverse. Her immense power and mastery of the Mystic Arts was shown to be very well known throughout the Multiverse, such that her presence on Earth was sufficient to keep many threats from the other dimensions.
- Dark Dimension Magic Manipulation: Learning from O-Bengh on how to draw power from the Dark Dimension, Meredith had a far greater experience and understanding over this magic due to following O-Bengh's guidance. She was even able to successfully siphon some of the power from the Dark Dimension for centuries without being influenced by Dormammu, thus ensuring that Dormammu could not turn him into a Mindless One or corrupt her.
- Immortality: By drawing power from the Dark Dimension, Meredith Quill was able to prolong her lifespan far beyond regular humans.
