New Vanaheim is a city-state and enclave within the nation of Midgardia, one of the continents of the Thrudheim. Founded in 550 B.C. by former Asgardian Prince Tyr Odinson, his wife Zisa, and his loyal followers after they refused to obey King Odin and Princess Hela's command during the Subjugation of the Eighteen Realms. Designed in the spirit of the original Golden City of Asgard, New Vanaheim grew over the centuries into the largest and most advanced metropolis on the world of Thrudheim—serving as the capital of the democratic government known as the Asgardian Republic. Under the guidance of the Royal Council of Thrudheim, New Vanaheim was initially home to Asgardians and Vanir from Asgard, Nornheim, and Vanaheim. Over time, it became a thriving cosmopolitan hub, welcoming countless races from across the Eighteen Realms and beyond—including visitors, settlers, and diplomats from neighboring star systems and allied civilizations.
Following the Blip, Queen Rūna of New Asgard met with Counselor Tyr Odinson, leading to a historic treaty between their worlds. As part of this agreement, Rūna was appointed the first President of the Eighteen Realms and of New Vanaheim. While New Asgard gained diplomatic recognition from the United Nations, many of its Asgardian and non-Asgardian citizens migrated to New Vanaheim, now a flourishing interrealm capital and a major tourist destination for humans—especially admirers of Thor and the Asgardian legacy. In 2025, President Dolores Miller, who succeeded Thaddeus Ross, visited New Vanaheim at President Rūna's invitation. Together, they attended the Peace Summit on Primary Earth, the Charter Federation’s capital world and seat of the Congress of Worlds. During this historic meeting, New Vanaheim officially joined the Congress, represented by Senator Tyr Odinson as the delegate of Thrudheim, solidifying the Asgardian Republic's place among the galaxy's united civilizations.
