For alternate versions of Steel Spider, see Oliver Osnick/Firelance2361

History[]

Oliver Osnick grew up peacefully in New York City with his parents, until he lost his father due to falling debris in the Battle of New York. While Oliver survived, his arm was crushed due to the derbis and had to be amputated. While mourning his father alongside his mother Zelda and dozens of others in the aftermath of the battle, Oliver contemplated on the calamity that had transpired, making a vow to not let others suffer through the pain he had.

As he grew up, Ollie began advancing his technical expertise, excelling in his courses and becoming the top student. He also became friends with his mother's new romantic partner Gerald Wright, who kept him safe whenever he went. In his off-time, Ollie hung out at an abandoned subway station he nicknamed "The Waystation," where he developed multiple new types of hero-tech and a new robotic arm to replace the one he had lost. Soon, however, he found himself idolizing the newly christened Spider-Man, seeing him as a genuine hero for the people.

In 2016, on a trip to Coney Island with Gerry, Oliver managed to win a coveted Spider-Man plushie from one of the games stands. However, on the way to another ride, Ollie and Gerry, both were knocked out by the debris from the cargo plane from Spider-Man's fight with the Vulture. After making sure Gerry got medical attention, Oliver noticed the injured Spider-Man laying in the sand. Rushing over to help out the young hero, Ollie found the Iron Spider suit scattered in the debris, hiding it within his arm for safekeeping. Upon fleeing the crash site, Oliver ended up getting knocked back from the resounding explosion, causing the container to crack and fuse into this arm's wiring. As he escaped, he managed to get a glimpse of Spider-Man unmasked, finding out Peter Parker's identity.

Later, after accidentally activating the suit, Ollie, while initially freaked out, soon became excited and began web-swinging out into the streets. As he helps out people left and right, he makes a stop at the damaged wreck Coney Island, deciding to help them out as the new "Spider-Man."

For the next hour, he helped the fair raise money for repairs, entertaining other people and performing impressive stunts with the suit, until he was caught in his tracks by the real Spider-Man right in the middle of his performance. As the young boy attempted to explain the situation to Peter, both ended up getting confronted by a now-armored Mac Gargan/Scorpion who arrived to take the suit for his own personal gain. The two web heads teamed up to take down the villain, with Oliver managing to use his aptitude with the nanotechnology of the suit to take down Gargan with a plasma-web-cannon, driving him away.

Attributes[]

Powers[]

Seemingly those of Peter Parker of Earth-199999, with some exceptions.

  • Nanite Manipulation: Similar to the Mark L Iron Man Suit, Oliver's cerebral connection to the Steel Spider armor allows him to control and reconfigure the nanobots that make up his armor, allowing Osnick to form a variety of weapons and conducts which he used against enemies.
    • Suit Materialization: Oliver could materialize the Steel Spider Armor around him within seconds with a single thought. He can even materialize individual parts of the suit, like his lenses, and dematerialize it whenever he wants.
      • Nanite Spray: The suit also contained a nanite spray blaster that could be used to numb parts of the body to reduce pain.
      • Energy Blades: Oliver could also materialize blades of various sizes using the suit's nanotechnology.
      • Plasma Web Cannon: Like the Mark L, Oliver can materialize large apertures around his hands to enhance the power of his web shooters, which were strong enough to stagger and drive away Scorpion.
      • Nanite Relocation: This suit, like the Mark L, can relocate nanites from other tools, offensive or otherwise, created by Osnick.

Abilities[]

  • Gifted Intelligence: Oliver possesses genius intellect that rivals renowned scientists such as Tony Stark and Hank Pym. By the time he was 7, he was able to sucessfully recreate the Pym Particle.
  • Engineer: Oliver is highly skilled in handling, modification, and construction of equipment and high-tech weaponry.
  • Combatant: Oliver trained himself to fight against criminals, with some assitance from Spider-Man.

Paraphernalia[]

Equipment[]

  • Prosthetic Arm: After losing his arm in the Battle of New York, Oliver used technology from both his mother's company and other assorted mechanical establishments to build a replacement. It currently is used to house and charge his nanotech Steel Spider suit.
  • Steel Spider Armor: The armor is made of nano-technology that forms around Oliver's body in order to protect him, gifting him with the abilities and stature of Spider-Man.
    • Superhuman Durability: Due to the armor's nanite construction, it was able to withstand multiple attacks and it is also bulletproof, able to withstand high caliber weaponry.
    • Neural-Reactive Interface: The Steel Spider Armor is capable of quickly responding to Oliver's mental input.
    • Artificial Intelligence: The suit is also installed with an artificial intelligence system.
    • Nanite Materialization: Based on the database of his Mark L armor, Tony Stark created the Steel Spider Armor from nanites, allowing it to be stored in a small container, as well as assemble itself around Oliver within seconds. The mask of the armor can also be dismissed at will, retracting down into the neckline of the armor. The nanites are easily designed to integrate, which enables the user to be able to reattach any lost nanites that were torn apart.
    • Pincers: The armor is capable of manifesting four spider-legs, known as "Pincers," deployed from the back of the suit and controlled by an A.I. that anticipate how they can help him.
    • Self-Contained Environmental Protection: The armor is able to insulate Osnick from harmful environments such as the vacuum of outer space.
    • Remote Control: The armor was shown capable of being manipulated by Oliver's command, allowing him to be in two places at once when needed.
    • Upgraded Web-Shooters: The armor came equipped with large, bracer-like Web-Shooters worn on the wrist and part of the forearm. Unlike the Spider-Man Suit, the upgraded web-shooters also contain a supply of web fluid that eliminated the need for additional cartridges stored externally.
    • Parachute: Like the Spider-Man Suit, the armor contained a parachute deployed from the rear spider symbol.
    • Glider Wings: The armor was able to deploy a set of glider wings extending from Steel Spider's wrists to his upper thighs.
    • Missiles: The Steel Spider Suit is equipped with missiles that can sprout web fluids.
    • Energy Efficiency System: The armor is also equipped with its own built-in energy source based on the database from the Armor's Arc Reactor as it needs only a household plug to charge the suit, required that it needs to be charged within a special stabilizer box.
    • Enhanced Combat Mode: Dubbed as "Instant-Kill Mode", this feature allows the Steel Spider Armor to attack with lethality, with the spider-legs functioning as offensive weapons. When activated, the suit's lenses switch from blue to red lights emitting from the eyes. Parker deactivated this feature to protect Oliver from accidentally lethally harming someone.
  • Hammer Pendant: An enchanted piece of jewelry given to Oliver by his adopted sister Leah. The pendant allowed Oliver to remain completely undetectable to mystical dangers.
  • Steelblades: Oliver managed to accquire a pair of Necroswords during his fight with Hela, morphing the bladed weapons with his nanotech to fit his need.
