Wanda Maximoff is a mutant and sorceress who grew up with her fraternal twin brother, Pietro in Romania. Born with the mythical ability to harness Chaos Magic as a product of her mutation. Wanda and her brother where eventually separated as kids, with them being reunited years latter by their parent Magneto with Wanda forming part of the Brotherhood of Mutants and later betrayed them alongside her brother in order to form part of the X-Men. With Pietro becoming Quicksilver and Wanda gaining the moniker of the Scarlet Witch.
After a meeting with the Avengers, Wanda and Pietro would depart of the X-Men and become full time members of the team while still aiding the X-Men in a few occasions. Wanda's powers are in the point of becoming too powerful to the point of becoming a danger to both humans and mutants alike. After almost putting in extition the mutants and idirectly cuasing the Phoenix Civl War this result on her ending up becoming the pupil of Doctor Strange in order to learn to better mastered her powers.

- In the comics, Scarlet Witch was a founding member of the Brotherhood of Mutants, being initially identified as a mutant and the biological child of Golden Age superheroes Whizzer and Miss America. Later it was discovered that she was, in fact, the daughter of Magneto and his wife Magda Lehnsherr in Vision and the Scarlet Witch #4 (1983), 19 years after Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver's first appearance. In Avengers & X-Men: AXIS #7 (2014) and then Uncanny Avengers #4 (2015), it is confirmed not only are they not related to Magneto but they are also not mutants, as the High Evolutionary was the one that genetically altered them as infants, giving them their powers, before returning them to their parents, the Maximoffs, whom they briefly believed to be their real parents again.[1] Later on, it was revealed in Scarlet Witch #4 (2016) that Wanda and Pietro were actually the children of Natalya Maximoff, the sister of Django, who was a Romani witch who went by the moniker of Scarlet Witch. Natalya and Django, in turn, are the children of a man called the Scarlet Warlock, and Django and Marya took in Natalya's twins after the deaths of their own, Ana and Mateo.
