Daisy Jaiying Johnson is an Australian Inhuman-Human and the orphaned only daughter of Jaiying and Calvin Zabo, a former scientist of S.H.I.E.L.D. who was dismissed by the agency after refusing to disclose information regarding the odd abilities of his wife. Her father, however, attempted to continue his own research which led to a quantum accident occurring that Jiaying attempted to get Diasy safely away from while Zabo tried to fix the mistake. Daisy, however, sensing her father's fear and not wishing for him to be alone, attempted to return to him and she and her parents were all caught in a resulted explosion that both Jiaying and Calvin perished from, while Daisy gained the ability to render herself intangible and generate extreme amounts of power following the event. Daisy was therefore taken into a foster home as she grew up an orphan under the care of her surrogate father, Ralph Formor, an old colleague of Calvin's who raised and cared for Daisy as if she was his own. Daisy, however, bore a great resentment towards Hank Pym for having fired her father, thus provoking him to take the risks that had killed himself and Jiaying, pinning the blame for her parents' deaths squarely on the shoulders of Pym, S.H.I.E.L.D. and America. To this end, she finally ended up joining the roots of the Rising Tide, which she was crucial in founding, taking the alias of Skye due to a lack of any true family name.
Having primarily founded the larger, greater version of the Rising Tide, Skye, an incredibly skilled, genius-level hacker, eventually met and entered into a relationship with another founding member, Grant Ward. The situation of suffering that was currently gripping Australia, the streets of Brisbane having become a war zone with foreign forces invading and fighting in their streets on a regular basis, including a bombing that had nearly killed Skye and Ward and left them mourning several of their friends who had been killed in foreign crossfire resulted in the young couple assuming a deep hatred for America and its grip on their country, leading huge protests against the USA with the avowed aim of driving foreigners from their soil, founding and leading the Freedom For Australia Movement, putting both on the radar of S.H.I.E.L.D. and HYDRA as potential enemies and assets respectively. Additionally, Skye and Ward came to realize that the former was slowly dying due to the molecular disequilibrium that had left all her cells shredded, then stitched together again and Ward and Formor searched desperately for a cure.
Protests growing in power and strength, with high sympathies and powerful funding, by the time Skye and Ward had reached adulthood, their home had become a warzone, which the young couple, in answer, lead violent and furious riots against foreigners, demanding the total absolution of foreign power from their country whilst spreading their message further through the Rising Tide. During one such protest, Skye, Grant and their allies were approached by List, who offered them the power to make their goal of removing foreign influence a reality. Hoping to use such power to defend their country from harm, Skye and Ward agreed to undergo experiments with the Scepter under the supervision of Baron von Strucker, with the Mind Strone awakening and enhancing Skye's Inhuman abilities to such an extent that they even gave her some control over the mind through frequencies, while Grant attained both the abilities of a super-soldier and electronic abilities, which both, the only survivors among the experiment volunteers, proceeded to hone.
When the HYDRA base came under attack from the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D., Skye took it upon herself first to defend Strucker, who she swiftly and ruthlessly abandoned after it was clear to her she could not win in a fight against Steve Rogers, then briefly assisted her boyfriend in fighting the rest of the Avengers. Having escaped the skirmish unscathed, the two, under Skye's directions, permitted Stark to take the Scepter after Skye created an illusionary vision of the supposed future where Stark's inventions would see the world destroyed and all his friends left dead, but him alive, which Skye hoped would drive Stark to madness.
The two hid out in Brisbane and, with Ralph, resumed their resistant activities, in which they robbed from foreign establishments such as banks and supply deposits they knew to have committed overtaxing and withholding of resources that were rightfully the people of Australia's, occasionally with aid from their supporters, whilst simultaneously continuing the frantic search for a cure to Skye/Daisy's affliction, which she had entered a stage where she was within weeks of succumbing to without a cure. They learned that a Quantum Tunnel had been created by Hank Pym and embedded into a portable lab, by Skye's plans to absorb energy from the Quantum Realm conflicted with Pym's plans to rescue Janet van Dyne, whose survival in the Quantum Realm relied directly on the energy Skye, Ward and Formor sought to extract and Daisy began making attempts to steal the lab by force, putting her in conflict with Ant-Man and Wasp. As a result, the two Enhanced were soon approached by Ultron, an artificial intelligence created as a result of the vision Skye had inflicted upon Stark, who recruited Skye and Grant under the promise of helping the couple take their due vengeance, the cure and free their country of oppression. Agreeing to the alliance, the couple assisting him originally in his fight against the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D., who Skye proved instilment in defeating with her mental abilities but abandoned him when they discovered his true intentions to eradicate humanity and helped the friends in the Battle of Seoul. Skye subsequently joined her foes in fighting Ultron, who attempted to extinguish all life on earth by lifting Brisbane into the upper atmosphere, then dropping it with the force of a meteor, first using her skills to evacuate the city, sent Ultron's vibranium Doomsday Trigger and defend the citizens from the A.I.'s sentries, then uniting her efforts with Ward, the Avengers and a team of S.H.I.E.LD. agents, who ultimately destroyed Ultron and his forces with significant aid from Skye and Ward. In addition, upon her return, Janet Van Dyne transferred some of her quantum energy into Daisy, stabilizing her affliction. With her pain lessened and fading, she went into hiding with Formor and Grant to recover, then agreed to join Victoria Hand's S.H.I.E.L.D. team.
