Thomas "Tommy" Maximoff is the son of Wanda Maximoff and Vision, and the twin brother of Billy Maximoff. Created and raised within the Hex, he, along with his brother, were targeted by SWORD. and eventually captured by Agatha Harkness. During the Battle of Westview, the brothers were freed and helped defeat the SWORD agents. Following the battle, Wanda dispelled the Hex, which resulted in Tommy being erased from existence.[1]
However, it turned out that after the dissolution of the Hex, Tommy's soul and consciousness survived and existed disembodied, unable to follow his brother to the Witches' Road given to his warlock gene not having being activated, and then, when a boy called Thomas "Tommy" Shepherd died after being hit by a school bus, Maximoff's soul and consciousness possessed and took over the corpse, essentialy bringing it back to life and reincarnating, however, in the process, Tommy Maximoff's soul and Tommy Shepherd's soul merged into one, where Tommy Maximoff appeared to be the dominant persona, however, their memories became merged and confused. Unbeknownst to him, he was actually guided to possess and take the boy's corpse by his brother.
The confusion of his memories and the Shepherd family's troubled state caused Tommy to become unstable and frequently leave and enter juvenile halls, and then his super-speed powers manifested and he accidentally vaporized his school in a fit of rage, which caused him to be imprisoned by the government and become the target of experiments to become a weapon, where he was rescued by Wiccan, the reincarnation of his lost brother, and with his help, he was able to recover and reorganize all of his memories. Taking on the codename Speed, he joined his brother in finding their mother, and upon completion, they were invited by Ms. Marvel to form the Young Avengers, which they accepted.

- Hybrid Physiology: Maximoff is a Warlock/Mutant hybrid, having both the warlock and mutant heritage from his mother.
- Mutant Physiology: Like his uncle, Maximoff is an Alpha-level Mutant, hence, he is a powerful mutant.
- Superhuman Speed: Like his uncle, Maximoff can run at super sonic speed. He is able to act, move, and perceive in seconds or less, far faster than normal people could even perceive. His power causes him to generate an aura of blue/green, white, and transparent energy currents and mist-like shapes, much like fire or wind, leaving behind a trail of it as he runs. Maximoff used his abilities to swiftly relieve SWORD agents of their weapons. Despite his powers resembling that of his uncle, his abilities do not amplify the force behind his movements like his uncle's did, notably allowing his mother to catch him by the arm without being injured.
- Molecular Acceleration: He can also generate hyper-kinetic vibrations that accelerate the molecules in matter, causing any solid object he directs his vibrations at to explode.
- Intangibility: He also can use molecular destabilization to walk through solid objects.
- Superhuman Stamina: After Maximoff found out he had super speed, he chose almost the entire Westview with and without his brother for a long time and showed no signs of fatigue.
- Superhuman Agility: Speed's physiology grants him superhuman agility being more flexible and having greater balance.
- Superhuman Reflexes: He's capable of reacting fast, because he's moving at superhuman speeds everything moves slower for him.
- Superhuman Durability: Speed's physiology also provides him with limited protection against impact forces and the high levels of friction that are produced when he moves at superhuman speed.
- Superhuman Strength: Speed possesses a limited degree of superhuman strength, allowing him to lift about 800 lbs with his arms and 1 ton with his legs.
- Accelerated Perception: Speed's brain processes information at an accelerated rate to match his bodily speed, enabling him to perceive his surroundings while traveling at high velocities. To him, this makes it seems as if the world is going in slow motion.
- Mage Physiology: In addition to his mutant genes, Maximoff also possessed warlock genes. However, his warlocks genes have been completely suppressed by his mutant genes and will likely never be activated.
- Mutant Physiology: Like his uncle, Maximoff is an Alpha-level Mutant, hence, he is a powerful mutant.
