Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch, is a native of Sokovia who grew up with her fraternal twin brother, Pietro. Born with the latent mythical ability to harness Chaos Magic, she developed a hatred against Tony Stark and rallied anti-American protests after the Novi Grad Bombings killed her parents. Years later, in an effort to help purge their country of strife, the twins joined HYDRA and agreed to undergo experiments with the Scepter under the supervision of Wolfgang von Strucker, with the Mind Stone awakening and amplifying Wanda's powers. While her brother developed super-speed, she attained various psionic abilities. When HYDRA fell, the twins joined Ultron to get their revenge on Stark, but abandoned him when they discovered his true intentions to eradicate humanity. Wanda and Pietro joined the Avengers during the Battle of Sokovia to stop Ultron; Pietro was killed during the battle but Wanda survived, and shortly after relocated to the Avengers Compound in the United States of America.
During the Avengers Civil War, Wanda chose to side with Captain America's team known as the Secret Avengers to help prove Bucky Barnes' innocence until they were confronted by Tony Stark's Mighty Avengers She was briefly imprisoned on the Raft before Captain Rogers arrived to free her alongside his teammates. For the last two years whil living on the run, Wanda was suddenly bitten in the neck by Janet Vane Dyne, who had just returned from the Microverse and brought in a virus that turned many people into zombies, which included Wanda. She remained locked at Camp Leigh, but went berserk when confronting a group of human survivors. However, during the fight against Hulk, she was summoned to another world by Supreme Strange to help confront Ultron, but was swiftly beaten when the AI destroyed the planet she was on.
Now that she’s back in her universe, Wanda was known to the world as the Dead Queen and leads her own army of zombies to devour the rest of the living across the world. Along with General Okoye, who serves as her second-in-command of the army, Wanda sought to figure out a way how to cross the Multiverse and find the most suitable universes for her and her zombies to devour the living.
